Ukhozi FM presenter Zanele Mbokazi shocked her listeners.

UKHOZI FM listeners are worried.

This after hearing about the illness of their beloved presenter, Zanele "Mazetzet" Mbokazi.

Zanele, who made a comeback to Ukhozi FM in 2023 after a 23-year break, to host the station's top-rated show, was rushed to a Durban hospital after her show on Sunday, 28 April.

She had just completed her midmorning gospel show called Eshilo, when it was noticed that she was struggling to breathe, and her voice had significantly changed.

What worries Ukhozi FM listeners the most is that this was the second time such an incident has occurred.

The first incident happened on Sunday, 21 April 2024, when she couldn't finish her show, and Thokozani MaMkhize Ndlovu had to step in to complete it.

She returned on Sunday, 28 April, feeling better, but the illness resurfaced as soon as she arrived at the Ukhozi FM studio.

In March 2024, another Ukhozi FM presenter, Bheka "Beekay" Mchunu, passed away while also experiencing breathing difficulties, voice loss, and was often unable to complete his shows.

Some listeners are drawing parallels between Zanele's and Beekay's illnesses due to the similar symptoms, but Zanele’s spokeswoman, Nonjabulo Mdluli of Mirror Group, has denied any connection.

She said that they don't see it in the same light and believe that this is a test from God for Zanele, who has always been a source of comfort to many. They are hopeful that with prayers, Zanele will recover soon and be discharged from the hospital.

"Zanele has been unwell since Sunday, 21 April. She was unable to host her show, and MaMkhize Ndlovu filled in for her. She experienced severe pains but felt better by Friday, 26 April, and even attended an event in Pietermaritzburg. However, upon returning to work on Sunday, the illness struck again, but fortunately, she managed to complete her show despite the struggle," said Nonjabulo.

Nonjabulo also expressed gratitude for the prayers and well-wishes from various pastors, congregants, and the community.

"Zanele is receiving treatment in the hospital and her condition is improving. We urge people to continue praying for her," she said.

Listeners such as Miso Zangwa, Bulelwa Bali, and Lulu Zungu also shared their concerns and prayers for Zanele on Facebook, highlighting their shock and support during this difficult time.
