A fire that raged on the mountain above Kirstenbosch for several days since the weekend has largely been contained, but at least 60 firefighters will remain in the area for mop-up operations.
Several fires broke out in Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) during a lightning storm on Saturday and by Sunday, the slope above Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden was also alight, leading to its temporary closure.
There were a "number of flare-ups" in inaccessible areas above Kirstenbosch on Friday, according to TMNP officials, so the area will be treated as "priority" for most of the day.
