Inflamed Gums and Mouth Sores

1 week ago, my symptoms started as a fever/sore throat/malaise. 2 days later, around 20 sores appeared on my tongue, 6 on my inner lip, and my gums got very inflamed/bled like crazy when I tried to brush them. By the 4th day, the fever and malaise had gone away but the sores/gums have gotten worse in pain intensity. I haven't been able to chew any solid food for the past 4 days, only consuming meal replacement shakes for my diet. Went to the ER and they just gave me fluids, so what is the recommended treatment? Been doing "oil pulls" with coconut oil, using peroxide mouth wash, and taking L-lysine. Nothing seems to help, so I would appreciate any recommendations as to what you think this is (gingivostomatitis is my best guess) and what I should be doing/not doing.

It sounds as though you may have had a viral infection. See your dentist to confirm the diagnosis and for appropriate treatment.
