Cough

Q.

Continuous coughing

I have severe prolonged coughing and recently I started having catastrophic pain along my entire chest when I cough. Sometimes the pain starts at the base of my neck and goes down the back. I think the coughing was caused by taking Linsipril originally. I have a secondary URI as well. The severe sharp pain comes suddenly with a deep cough. It doesn't hurt to cough more shallowly or to breathe.

You need a chest x-ray to make sure there's nothing happening with the lung lining or within the chest cavity.  The pain you describe is likely to be soft tissue-related.  Breathing exercises and physiotherapy should help.
