Can violent cough damage your eyes?

Last summer I had a severe cough for a good 8 weeks. Docs kept saying Bronchitis, but I didn’t feel sick. I had urinary incontinence 24/7, that’s how violent the coughing was. As it was ending I noticed my vision was off in my left eye. I went to my eye doc and he referred me to Retina Specialist. He said I had myopic degeneration, I have wavy lines that are distorting my vision. Those docs said coughing didn’t cause it. But the timing makes me feel it’s related (eye disease not in my family, except cataracts) 3 eye injections so far with no change. Any thoughts??

Coughing can affect the eyes and can result in bruising due to rupture of delicate vessels on the surface of the eye.  However, I'm not aware of coughing causing retinal damage or significant eye damage.
