Q.

5-month-old hates lying on his tummy

My son is 5 months and he hates being on his tummy. He sits well and strong on my lap but cant sit yet alone. Am I pushing too hard? I dont know if he should be sitting already? We are doing tummy time but not a lot as he starts crying after 2 minutes. How can I help him.

Babies do not usually sit by themselves until they are about 6 months old. So there is no problem with your baby son not yet sitting unaided at his present age. In fact he seems to be doing quite well with his sitting for his age judging from your description. Do not try to encourage your baby to have tummy time if he is not interested. Continue to let him have short periods of tummy time as you are doing now. He will gradually increase the amount of tummy time by himself. Make him feel that this is all part of a game and you will see that he will start to enjoy tummy time more.
