Q.

23-month-old constantly crying , refuses to eat and drinks less.

Hi doctor, our daughter who’s almost 2 was always on similac total comfort since birth and it treated her so well(Thanks to you). When she turned 1 we decided to reduce the Similac 3 to only once a day and substituted the other 2 milk feeds with parmalat growth milk 1 which also didn’t affect her at all. Lately we’ve just been giving her the parmalat mostly with no issues. However, last week Thursday we struggled to get the parmalat at the shops totally and decided to give Nido a try, she started taking it last week Friday and on Monday she suddenly lost her appetite and refuses to eat and drinks less. Instead she’s constantly crying and wants to lie flat on the floor on her stomach. It looks like she has stomach cramps and starts crying and immediately wants to lie flat. We don’t know if it’s the milk or teething (she almost has a full set of teeth) or stomach issues. Kindly advice and thanks in advance.

Sorry about the delay in answering your question. This was due to a technical hitch. You have given a very clear description of your toddler's complaint. It appears that the change to Nido started off this cycle of her being so unhappy. She was previously on relatively low lactose formulas. The likelihood is that she is reacting to the lactose  in the Nido. Try your daughter on Similac Total Comfort 3 which she can take up to the age of 3 years. After that she will need to drink low lactose milks which are now available.
