Q.

Does electromagnetic therapy really work for healing broken bones?

I recently broke the tibia bone in my ankle. I was told that I would be in a cast for 4 weeks and then use a boot. The Dr here also prescribed electromagnetic therapy for bone healing. I am in Andorra (Europe) and getting to the physical therapist will be extremely difficult in my situation. So, my question is about the efficacy of this type of treatment.

Hi Steven

I am no expert in this field, but reading up on this it does seem as if it has been used for a few years now to help with bone healing. If this is a viable option for you (travel and money wise) it could speed up bone healing according to the literature.
