Q.

high blood pressure

hi, my name is Jarle Nygaard from Norway. Could high blood pressure in 1995 cause a stroke in 2006? And what could treatment have done if it was given?? could it have prevented the stroke??

If the blood pressure was uncontrolled, yes. The whole reason/rationale why high blood pressure and other cardiovascular risk factors eg high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking etc needs to be controlled, is to prevent long term damage to arteries, which may lead to cardiovascular incidents eg strokes, heart attacks, etc. So that is why blood pressure needs to be controlled at all times and the problem is that blood pressure can not be guessed/"felt"- it should be measured with a BP machine.
