Migraines changing

I've suffered from severe though infrequent migraines since I was about 8 years old. On the recommendation of the neurologist I see, I have been taking magnesium supplements. I'm not sure whether they work or not as I have had one migraine since I started using them. However, if I forget to take them I get a migraine within a few days. But, I don't know if that is because I would have got one anyway or not. Something that started happening even before I started taking magensium was that I was sometimes getting the aura but not the headache. However, I still get the nausea, weakness and sensitivity to light, as well as exhaustion. I have had an MRI done and there were no abnormalities detected. I have tried beta blockers but my heart rate went too low and I could barely function. I have also tried Maxfelt wafers, however, as I take SSRIs the neurologist phoned the manufacturers who advised against taking them due to the risk of serotonin syndrome. I do however take Voltaren suppositories and Tramacet if a headache does develop after the aura. I have stopped all hormonal contraceptives as those were giving me headaches during menstruation (not migraines). I was told by a gynaecologist and a GP that I was imagining this, but I don't have headaches when not on them (any type including the patch and a variety of pills) and I do when on them, so I know this was the cause. I don't smoke, I excercise regularly, eat generally healthily and drink enough water (to thirst) and I"m generally in good health. Is there anything else that I can do to prevent migraines? My family find it irritating, it impacts on my work life and hobbies and I'm out of action for around two days each time. My medical aid will not pay for the visits to the headache clinic, which considering some of the things they're wiling to fund from savings is a bit of a joke.
