Q.

Can multiple sclerosis or lupus worsen viral infections?

Just after perky sweet 5'3" Annette Funicello developed multiple sclerosis she came down with a severe attack of acute viral bronchitis. You could just imagine what it must have been like for petite Annette! She had a high fever chills and a racking cough! She stated in her autobiography A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes she probably went through a lot of prescription and OTC cough medicine to calm that nasty bronchitis cough! Sometimes the cough medicine Annette took calmed her hacking bronchitis coughs but other times she couldn't quiet that cough! Then she was placed on ice to stop coughing! Then she stated in the book how viral infections worsen MS. In what way?

Hi there

Any form of physical illness on top of the MS causes increased stress for the immune system of the body and will worsen the symptoms of MS.
