Great question, although I have absolutely no idea. I do know that a new vaccine is created every year to cover as many of the new and virulent strains of the flu virus that has developed. The flu virus itself inevitably mutates every year. I agree that one should get exposure, but I have also seen the flu virus being extremely aggressive this year, especially in my part of the world - and those who had the flu vaccination did either not get ill or did not get as ill as those who were not vaccinated.
