Q.

Discharge from the corner of my eye

I had pink eye a few months ago. I took antibiotic eyedrops and it seemed to clear up. The only thing that seems to still be happening is a clear discharge on the outer corner of my right eye. When I blink the discharge makes a blurry film over my eye. I wipe it and it goes away for a minute or two and then it builds up again and happens all over again. My eye doesn't itch or burn or feel scratchy. The skin on my eyelid and in the corner of my eye just feels tender and a bit raw from wiping it all the time. I have teied using Artelac eye drops and wiping my eye with black rooibos tea. They give relief for a few minutes but then it starts all over again. When I wake up in the morning there is a bit of a crust but when I wash my face it comes off easy enough and then the discharge begins. I'm not sure what this could be and what to do about it because ot's driving me crazy because it effects my vision and the constant rubbing begins to hurt.

HI there,

Please try avoid rubbing. It sounds like you could still have a viral infection. Try continue with a lubricant throughout the day, multiple times. If there is no improvement, please see you optometrist.

Best wishes
