Q.

constant erection whilst asleep

i am experiencing constant erection whilst i am asleep at night. it becomes uncomfortable to the point that i usually wake up to remove my shorts or trousers. i get some relief. its not an erection due to any sexual craving but it becomes painful at times. should i be concerned or have it checked out?

Dear Reader

You are having erections with REM sleep. It is normal. Yet, if they are prolonged, painful and you struggle to "get rid of them", stuttering priapism may be the diagnosis. Are you from West Africa?
