Q.

High blood sugar

My father 75 years admitted in hospital diabetic with ckd. cretenine level 3.2 doctors giving lantus 10 Am 10 units and novarapid premeal 3 times 5 units. however Premeal Blood suger level 233 at 0800 hra and 520 at 1000 hrs. linagliptin tablets 5mg given at lunch. Why his blood sugar is not under control. He is being given stict DM-renal diet. PSe advice

Hi

I can't give you an definite answer, but if he is in hospital, it may be that he has an infection pushing up the glucose readings or just that his doses need to be adjusted. Glucose in the blood is derived form the food that he eats, as well as his liver, and the liver can increase glucose production if he has an infection
