Q.

Fasting glucose

I got my blood glucose checked in laboratory after 13 hour fasting (is checking after 13h is fine?). The result is" plasma glucose fasting =82 mg/dl" is to take reading after13h is fine? I just got i checked , my health is fine lipid profile is very fune (except HDL 35mg/dl). My father has diabetes but he got at the age of anout 50. Normally I have more urination frequency but this is from long time. I always feaful of diabetes, as I am not married as I was reading diabetes causes ED.Do I need to check random or hb1ac also or this fasting diabetes confirm that I am non diabetic? My age 30 and healthy. I am not overweight at all my weight is about 64kg. I am really stressed due to different opinions by different doctors. Kindly give the authentic answer.

Hi

A fasting glucose is normally done after an eight hour fast. Fasting for longer may sometimes give a slightly higher reading.Your reading is well within normal, so looks fine
