Q.

Bone cancer mortality age?

My 5' friend Annette lost her father to bone cancer at the age of only 54 in 1988 right after she started working at Trade Winds. I've been looking on my Facebook at famous celebrities who died of bone cancer such as Password hosts Allen Ludden and Jack Clark. Sadly I found out too middle What's My Line? host Wally Bruner was also a bone cancer victim. All three hosts were only 62 (Clark) 64 (Ludden) and 68 (Bruner) at their deaths. Just the same I also discovered Perry Mason "swing pitcher" Wesley Lau was only 62 when he died of bone cancer! Do bone cancer victims typically die younger than other cancer victims? (I would appreciate mention of other celebrities who succumbed to bone cancer! Thanks!)

Dear Greg, I normally do not spend a lot of time on trying to find out which celebrities died of specific types of cancer. Each individual is unique and there is no one-size-fits-all. Cancer knows no boundaries - it affects individuals whether they are famous, rich, poor, black, white, green or any other colour of the rainbow. Morbidity and mortality also depends on when the disease is diagnosed, at what stage the disease was at the time of diagnosis, general health of the individuals, how aggressive the cancer was, and whether the individual had access to effective treatment.
