Is there a reason to worry about swimming to an asthmatic baby?

I have a 3 year old daughter attending crèche and in her school they want her to participate in a swimming programme and our concern is that she is an asthmatic person. It is our view that this programme is not suitable for her and might actually perpetuate her condition.

One has to balance the benefits and the risks in any situation.  Your baby with derive tremendous enjoyment and swimming is an exercise which in the long term will benefit asthma if it stays with her.  However, in some people asthma can get worse, especially if the pools are chlorinated and the person reacts to the fumes from the water.  My suggestion is to go ahead and keep an eye on her breathing.  If there are no problems, go ahead and enjoy the swimming!
