Q.

My son is on 56mg concerta but only started last year

I am looking to get a clear diagnosis for my son, who is now 16 years old. he looses concentration very easily and is not doing well at school at all. I took him to a doctor and suggested he be put on ADHD medication as he struggles to focus for long periods and time, he was put on concerta 56mg, but is gives him anxiety and sleepless nights at times. My son is very forgetful and struggles with mood swings and struggles with concentration. I am frustrated and I am not really sure what I should do, whether I should increase his dosage or change medication.

It is important that your son be thoroughly assesses by a psychiatrist to confirm his diagnosis. Only then can the most beneficial treatment plan (therapy/medication/lifestyle intervention) recommended.
