Osteoporosis and hip replacements

Is it possible to have a hip replacement if you have osteoporosis, and if so, how successful is it?

Hi Carol

Yes - it would be possible as they are replacing the hip and femur neck with a metal implant. Success rate would be the same. If you have severe osteoporosis it would be imperative for you to also be on active osteoporosis treatment, but please also discuss this with your doctor.
