my wife has a hypoventilation sleep disorder and concomittant copd

she has developed a possible associated sleep paralysis (hypnopompic/incubis) where she awakes from rem sleep with sweating, hot to touch, unable to move or speak temporarily, and a feeling of impending doom(death). Are these recognizable symptoms, in particular the hot sweats?
