Diabetic food

Advise what kind of food is suitable for a diabetic person? Mom has been diagnosed with diabetes.

A person with diabetes does not need any special foods but the same type of healthy unprocessed high fibre basic foods we all should eat To include all types of vegetables and fruit (the quantity of fresh fruit should be controlled) lean proteins, unsaurated fat suc as plant oils and whole grains such as wild/brown rice, corn barley seed healh breads, rolled oats and whole grain breakfast cereals NO NOS all foods made from white flour (inclusing diabetic biscuits) and sugar including fruit juices The best will be for your Mum to consult with a dietitian to guide her on meal chioces that will control her blood sugar the best taking her lifestyle and preferences also in consideration Contact www.adsa.org.za
