Kaizer Chiefs are reinforcing their commitment to nurturing young talent by integrating promising players from their DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team into the senior squad.
The latest beneficiary of this strategy is Donay Jansen, following his development period with the DDC side.

Jansen, 21, was previously reported to have been offered a five-year contract, according to Soccer Laduma, but then he was involved in a disciplinary issue. He was one of three players suspended for refusing to participate as ball boys during a DStv Premiership league home game for Chiefs. While his counterparts, Puso Dithejane and Omega Mdaka, have since parted ways with the club, Jansen's journey took a different turn.
After serving a four-month suspension, Siya sources have indicated that the club has decided to bring him back and secure his services with a four-year contract.
"They are looking at next season already and they want to keep as many youngsters from their development as they can. So for Donay (Jansen) it's a four-year contract which will apparently run from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2028. They are tying most of their youngsters to long term contracts because they are looking at the future," said the Siya source.
"Most of these youngsters are good players. They just need to be given a playing chance and with a good mixture of youth and experience Chiefs can be the team to look up to in the next few seasons starting from next season," the source told Soccer Laduma.
A second Siya source highlighted Jansen's loyalty and commitment to the club as key factors in the decision to offer him a significant contract.
"You know when Puso (Dithejane) and Omega (Mdaka) decided to leave he stayed behind and served the suspension without any problem. That showed that he is commited to the team and now they are rewarding him for both loyalty, discipline and hard work.
"I think the new four-year deal for the senior team is as good as done and it's the perfect one for the young man. It's also good for the club to keep players who understand the culture and philosophy of the club," the source added.
Efforts to obtain a comment from Kaizer Chiefs were made by Soccer Laduma, but the club didn't respond by the time this story was published.
This move by Amakhosi underscores the club's strategy to build a future-proof squad by investing in young talent who embody the club's values and have the potential to contribute significantly in the coming years.
Jansen's contract extension not only marks a pivotal moment in his career but also reflects Chiefs' vision for a balanced and dynamic team for the future.
