Pitso Mosimane's were unable to move out of the Saudi Pro League relegation zone after 5-1 loss to Riyad Mahrez's Al Ahli on Saturday night.

bha started the evening in the relegation zone but were given a boost by Al Akhdoud dropping points against Steven Gerrard's Al Ettifaq.

Al Ahli brought out the big guns for the encounter, as goalkeeper Édouard Mendy, Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, and Franck Kessie all started.

Mosimane's charges did not get off to the best of starts after falling behind eight minutes in, with Feras Albrikan finding the back of the net for the 17th time this season.

The home side doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime as Al Brikan turned provider to pick out Ziyad Al Johani, who fired past goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu.

Al Ahli put Abha out of their misery on 72 minutes when Sumayhan Al-Nabit got the third goal of the contest, sealing the win and cementing third place.

Mahrez rounded off the scoring with four minutes left on the clock, as the former Manchester City star took his tally to 11 league goals for the campaign, before Kessie added his name to the score-sheet on 87 minutes.

Abha did manage to bag a consolation goal in second-half stoppage time, with Al Ahli goalkeeper Mendy deflecting the ball into his own net.

Mosimane's side remain in 17th position but only sit two points adrift of safety with two matches left in the campaign.

Abha will now turn their attention to Al Khaleej on Thursday evening, before they end the campaign against bottom-placed Al Hazm.
