Kaizer Chiefs played to a goalless draw with Polokwane City in their final home game of the DStv Premiership season.

Chiefs brought back previously suspended Given Msimango and recalled Edson Castillo and Christian Saile, as three changes from their draw against AmaZulu.

Amakhosi looked to hurt City on counter-attacks early on as ten minutes into the game Saile fired his effort wide after going through in the box.

Rise and Shine were asking questions of Chiefs, as moments later Oswin Appollis gave goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma a fright with a dipping shot that bounced awkwardly but dealt with in front of Bvuma.

However, the pace of the game slowed down after the half-hour mark and Chiefs were forced to make a change in that period, as Ashley Du Preez could not continue and was replaced by Happy Mashiane, in a tactical switch.

Polokwane almost broke the deadlock shortly before the break after Bulelani Nikani's glancing header from a corner missed the bottom corner by inches wide.

Polokwane were exploiting Amakhosi's high line from the interval as they missed two big chances through Hlayisi Chauke and Appollis after breaking through on goal.

The Glamour Boys needed spark upfront and on 67 minutes, they brought on Mfundo Vilakazi in place of Ranga Chivaviro.

Immediately the hosts came to life as Saile had a big chance after rounding goalkeeper Manuel Sapunga but his shot was cleared off the line.

With 15 minutes to go, Chiefs honoured Khune after bringing him on in place of Bvuma.

Cavin Johnson's men lacked momentum in the closing stages and City almost stole maximum points in the last kick of the game as the sides shared the spoils.
