WHILE Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule's family is still dealing with her recent lung cancer diagnosis, another tragedy has hit.

This time, the Ukhozi FM presenter's family had to plead for their lives when four unknown men allegedly pointed guns at them in their home in KwaNdengezi outside Durban on Friday, 10 May.

The men robbed them of their belongings before fleeing the scene, leaving the family fearful they might come back.

A family member told Daily Sun they were watching TV on Friday night when they heard a knock on the door.

"We asked who was knocking and heard someone ask for directions to a local teacher's home. When we opened the door to give them directions, four armed men stormed in.

"They pointed guns at us and instructed us to give them our cellphones and money. They took our cellphones and cash and then left," said the family member.

Nonjabulo Mdluli of the Mirror Group confirmed the incident and asked for the family to be given a space to deal with it.

KZN police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda also confirmed the incident and said a case of house robbery was opened.

"KwaNdengezi police are investigating a case of house robbery following an incident at Tom Tom in KwaNdengezi on Friday, 10 May.

"It's alleged that four unknown armed men entered the house and robbed family members of their cellphones. The suspects fled the scene in a white getaway vehicle," said Netshiunda.

Meanwhile, it's alleged that residents of KwaNdengezi are living in fear.

One resident said the alleged gang rob them in the streets, break into houses and terrorise their victims with guns.

"We suspect these thugs are connected to the nine suspects who were killed by the cops in Mariannhill in April. This is because they are doing exactly what those thugs did in Mariannhill. We're not safe. We don't even walk the streets when it's dark," said the resident.
