Q.

BCG Injection

Hi Doc,

My son is nearly 5 months old and the BCG injection does not seem to heal. Its this huge pimple now which seem to be sensitive / -|- and very red. After bathing him this morning, we noticed blood on the towel and discovered it was this pimple that was bleeding.

My questions are as ff:
1. does it take so long to heal
2. is there there any need for concern.
3. what can I do or use to dry out the area.
4. Not sure if it painful or not to my little one.

The other question is about the penis:
1. From when would you suggest i can wash under the skin:

Many thanks

The BCG can take many months to heal in some babies. In your baby's case he may have developed what is known as a BCG abscess. It would be best to ask your doctor to see him just to be sure.
