Q.

Runny tummy and vomiting

Hi Doctor My LO is 6 months and is not well. He cut his first bottom tooth on Friday, and ever since then he has a runny tummy and vomiting. I took him to the doctor, they gave us meds, but still vomiting the meds. I then made him glucose solution, he kept that in. Gave him glucose for +-36 hours, and he looked better then decided to give him his milk. He vomited. So he's now currently drinking rooibos tea for kids and sugar water. Is that good for him, can I buy him Calsuba powder and put it in his tea or water, coz I'm worried about calcium deficiency?

It sounds as if your baby had a very severe gastro infection. Sometimes babies develop a temporary problem with lactose intolerance after bad gastro infection. This usually lasts for about 6 weeks. During this time babies cannot tolerate cow's milk feeds or any dairy. So put your baby on a soya formula for a few weeks. Also give him frequent sips of Rehidrat solution for about 3 days to help him to replace lost water and body salts due to his recent bad diarrhoea.
