Dear Calvin

Thank you for making enquiries through Health24. It is a pity that you did not try to provide some additional information, e.g. is the pulsating feeling in sinc with your heartbeat? Is it constant or only when you sit, lie, walk, etc? You also did not indicate where in your abdomen you feel the pulsation and whether your abdomen feels rigid.

I would, however, suggest that you urgently make an appointment with your doctor to have this investigated. There could be a simple answer to the pulsating feeling, however, it may also be something much more serious like an aortic aneurysm which, if untreated, may have serious consequences.

During the physical examination your doctor will examine your abdomen. If you have an abdominal aortic aneurysm, he/she may notice a mass near your stomach. Your abdomen may feel stiff or rigid, and there may be a rhythmic, pulsating sensation within the abdomen. This pulsation can feel similar to a heartbeat. (MCH).

The information provided does not constitute a diagnosis of your condition. You should consult a medical practitioner or other appropriate health care professional for a physical exmanication, diagnosis and formal advice. Health24 and the expert accept no responsibility or liability for any damage or personal harm you may suffer resulting from making use of this content.
