Our posture is moulded over 24 hours of each day. This means, that even your sleep posture plays a role.
To answer your question: strengthened back muscles are allways better for your muscular health, than wearing a brace. The problem with a brace is that it prevents movement, and therefore, you do not strengthen optimally.
My suggestion is that you continue with your exercises, consider doing other exercises as well; and alter your posture often during the day, as well as when sleeping.
