A new study shows that overeating may have effects beyond just a wide waistline. Reaching for seconds also may double the risk of mild cognitive impairment (a type of memory loss) in older people.
Take action:
The American Academy of Neurology found that "elderly people who ate up to 6 000 calories (25 000kJ) a day were most at risk. They have recommended that people aged 51 and older stick to consuming 1 800 calories (7 500kJ) per day.
