As Princess Charlotte celebrates her ninth birthday today, the Prince of Wales shared an update on how the family is doing.
William (41) was opening a new mental health care centre for suicidal men when a well-wisher asked how Kate (42) and their children, Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (9) and Prince Louis (6) were holding up.
"All doing well, thank you. Yes, we’re doing well,” the prince responded.
William is back to his royal duties after taking leave to support Kate as she recovers from abdominal surgery.
In March the Princess of Wales revealed she’d been diagnosed with cancer.
“In January I underwent major abdominal surgery in London. At the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful, however, tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” she said in a video announcing the news.

While the type of cancer hadn't been disclosed Kate asked for privacy as she and her family tried to come to terms with the news.
“This, of course, came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she said.
Kate also spoke about how “it’s taken time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them”.
William returned to work in April when he visited nonprofit organisation Surplus to Supper. There, he received well-wishes for Kate and his father, King Charles III, who was also diagnosed with cancer.
The King made his first public appearance earlier this week when he visited University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre in central London, which diagnoses and treats a wide range of cancers.

William seems much more at ease and relieved now that his father is on the mend and warmly engaged with the public at royal events.
During a visit to St Michael’s Church of England High School in Sandwel last week, he shared Princess Charlotte's favourite joke.
"Knock knock," he asked. "Who’s there?" the students replied.
"Interrupting cow," Prince William continued.
As the kids started to reply, "Interrupting cow who?" Prince William interjected with "Moo!" prompting giggles from the group.
The princess turns nine today, but "if you ask her, she says she's 16," William previously said.
To mark the occasion, the Prince and Princess of Wales released a new beaming picture of their daughter on their social media accounts with a note of thanks "for all the kind messages today."
Charlotte attends Lambrook School with her other brothers and is quite popular with her peers.
“Charlotte is so kind and friendly and the other children adore her. She's kind to the kids in younger years and she's very popular,” a source recently told HELLO! “They’re lovely kids”.
