If once in a blue moon could be applied in a literal sense, along with a mix of lightning striking twice, it would be fitting for Wynberg's cathartic success over Paarl Boys High.

Saturday's 30-27 win was Wynberg's first over Paarl Boys High since 1991, but three years before that in 1988, their success had a touch of Da Costa in it.

In 1988, when Wynberg beat Boys High 19-13, Joe da Costa was part of the side as a hooker, having played prop the year before.
