MyPlayers, the representative organisation for all professional players in the country, diplomatically believes enforcing hasty changes to the structuring of so-called PONI (Player of National Interest) distributions could become counterproductive in the long term and wouldn't be in the best interest of its members.
This follows last week's "productive" meeting between SA Rugby and the URC franchises - the Bulls, Lions, Sharks and Stormers - where it's understood the latter collectively insisted on greater autonomy when it comes to the appropriation of those payments.
