The ANC is seeking to appeal a KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Durban ruling, which dismissed the governing party's application to bar former president Jacob Zuma's uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party from using its uMkhonto weSizwe brand's likeness.

In a notice of appeal, the ANC argued Judge MR Chetty erred in framing the case as one centred on voter confusion at the ballot box.

In late April, the High Court dismissed with costs the ANC's application against the MK Party over the use of the logo historically associated with the ANC's armed wing.
