Yes, they most certainly do. People who do little or no exercise, who smoke and drink, and who eat an unhealthy diet, particularly one low in calcium, are at higher risk for osteoporosis than people who lead a healthy lifestyle. Regular exercise, no smoking, a diet low in proteins and high in calcium and magnesium, and a limited alcohol intake all improve your chances of preventing osteoporosis or controlling the condition if you have it.
