In 2023, exports of South African-built vehicles reached an all-time high of 399 594 units, representing a year-on-year growth of 13.6%, according to industry representative body Naamsa (National Automobile Association of Manufacturers of Southern Africa).

So, which countries around the world are buying SA-built vehicles?  For the record, the figure above includes 398 795 light vehicles – that is, passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) – with the small remainder comprising medium and heavy commercial vehicle and bus exports.
