From her Heritage Day fashion to travels across the continent and Cape Town adventures with her bestie, South African musician and Grammy Award winner Tyla Seethal has opened up about the moments behind some of her memorable snaps in the latest series of Billboard's Behind the Photo.
The Water hitmaker begins the photo diary series by reminiscing about a trip to Ghana, sharing some of her fondest memories.
"This was taken by my best friend. We went to the skate park. I have no idea how to skate, but I was having very much fun that day."
The vocalist's second photo, which she shared, was also taken by her best friend while on holiday in Cape Town.
"This is a cute one. We had a whole picnic. We were having a girl's day gossiping on the Cape Town beach. She took a picture of me eating sushi," the animated singer said.
Sharing her third photo, Tyla, who recently transformed into a sand sculpture at the 2024 Met Gala, is seen donned in a traditional shweshwe dress and head wrap on Heritage Day.

"I was feeling myself this day. I woke up very early to do my edges, head wrap and outfit. I was feeling very fancy. This was a cute moment."
The Johannesburg-raised singer's iconic photo was taken at Edenglen High School where she matriculated in 2019. In the photo, she is wearing a school uniform and sunglasses.
"This was in school. We were leaders at school, and we had to organise clothes as RCL reps. We were playing with those clothes; we were not being serious. My best friend snapped this picture of me and... the rest is history," she ends off.
