Researchers have found that six African countries have substantially higher morbidity and mortality rates among children and adolescents hospitalised for Covid-19 than countries like the United States and the United Kingdom.

The study, published in JAMA Pediatrics, investigated the clinical outcomes and associated factors among children and teenagers hospitalised for Covid-19 in sub-Saharan Africa.

Researchers assessed 469 children aged 3 months to 19 years from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda.
