In 2017, Cassiem Halliday from Cape Town - who works as a service agent at an auto shop - was browsing the internet searching for a personal loan.
He visited a website called Loan Hub SA, thinking the site would assist him in finding a loan. He entered his personal details and ticked a box stating he had read the site's terms and conditions, thinking it was the usual boilerplate.
But, instead of help in finding a loan, Halliday later learned he had subscribed to a legal services package, which he didn't want or need.
