Government has said it is increasingly concerned about the finances of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) after the promulgation of legislative reforms to change the broadcaster's funding via the SABC Bill were postponed.
The bill, which has faced some heavy criticism, will now be handed to the next government administration, after Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies recently postponed public hearings.
While critics continue to slam the bill, the broadcaster believes it is a key piece of legislation to revamp its unsustainable business model and improve revenue streams.
