Your baby's arrival is around the corner. Make sure you're packed and ready to go.

Just a few weeks left...

Your baby's progress:

  • Your baby weighs about 2.9 kilograms.
  • He or she continues to gain weight – approximately 28 grams a day.
  • Your baby will turn toward the light.
  • He or she practises breathing movements.
  • Your baby's grasp becomes firm.

Your progress:

  • Your vaginal discharge becomes heavier.
  • Breathing becomes easier as your baby has settled into the pelvis and there's less pressure from your diaphram. This is called “lightening”.

What to do:

  • At your weekly visits, your doctor will check whether you've started dilating (the cervix opens) and effacing (the thinning of the cervix). He will also check the position of the baby.

Good to know:

  • Remember to take your vitamins every day.
