New mothers and people close to them should know the warning signs of postpartum depression.

They include:

- trouble enjoying your baby or yourself

- trouble sleeping;

- crying jags and feeling sad;

- lack of appetite or big weight gain;

- anxiety;

- feelings of guilt or worthlessness;

- feelings of hopelessness,

- and scary thoughts of harming you or your baby.

If you have any of these warning signs, or know a new mother who exhibits them, get help immediately
