That's when you need to control your emotions, say experts from the University of Washington. Otherwise you may end up shaking your baby and causing him great harm, even death.

To avoid shaken baby syndrome, the experts recommend the following steps if your baby won't stop crying:

  • keep him fed and dry
  • feed him slowly
  • burp him frequently
  • take him for a ride in the car or a stroller.

If all else fails, put him down and let him cry, but never shake him.
