Reading in dim light will not make your sight worse, but it will tire your eyes.
Reading a chapter or two in dim light before bedtime might help you fall asleep, but it may make your eyes burn due to less frequent blinking. Rather opt for a reading light you can clip onto your book.
This way your dark room will encourage sleeping, but your eyes won’t suffer from dryness.
