To temporarily relieve painful haemorrhoids, try taking a “sitz” bath.

Sit in a bathtub filled with 10cm of lukewarm water, with your knees pulled up to your chest, for 15 minutes or so. The water cleans the anal area and increases blood flow, which can help shrink the swollen veins and relieve pain.
