Visiting friends with cats can be an allergy sufferer's worst nightmare.

Take a non-sedating anti-histamine about 20 minutes prior to your visit, or keep the anti-histamines in your purse or wallet if you’re not sure if your hosts have pets.

Once there, stay away from upholstered couches, and wash your hands and change your clothes as soon as you get home.
