Take care of sensitive skin

accreditation

SUMMER can make the skin extra sensitive and if not properly taken care of, it can lead to more complications.

WHAT CAUSES SENSITIVE SKIN?

Hormones

Fluctuating hormones caused by pregnancy, menstruation, menopause and other conditions can make the skin extra sensitive than usual.

Clothing

Certain fabrics tend to irritate the skin and even cause redness.

Jewellery

Most jewellery has nickel in it, which causes swelling of the skin.

Diet

Foods that have too much acid can cause not only bloating, but an unhealthy skin. Eat the right foods and drink plenty of water.

Smoking

Cigarettes age, dry and reduce the skin’s proper functions.

TYPES OF PRODUCTS TO USE

Cleansing Use products that do not contain alcohol. These products must also protect the skin from breaking out.

Move! tip: If you are not sure about a skin care product, dab a drop of it on the highest part of the cheek. If it goes red, then the skin is sensitive to it.

Masking or exfoliating

It is not advisable to scrub or exfoliate sensitive skin, but if necessary, use calming products. Make sure the exfoliator or scrubbing granules within the products are not large and harsh. These will cut the skin causing swelling and inflammation.

Move! tip: Mask once a week, but do not leave it on the skin too long.

Moisturising

Sensitive skin does not deal well with oily products as they tend to block pores, causing break outs. Use an oil free moisturiser which will not cause a build-up and redness.
