Do I have OCD?

Complete this screening test to see whether you may be suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Do you have recurrent and persistent thoughts/images that you experience as intrusive and inappropriate, and that cause marked anxiety and distress (i.e. obsessions)?

Are these obsessions more than excessive worries about real-life problems?

Do you attempt to ignore or suppress these obsessive thoughts or images or to neutralise them with some other thought or action?

Do you realise that these obsessional thoughts or images are a product of your own mind, i.e. not imposed from without?

Do you have repetitive behaviours (e.g. excessive hand washing, ordering, checking) or mental acts (e.g. excessive praying, counting) that you feel driven to perform in response to an obsession, or according to rules that must be applied rigidly?

Are these behaviours or mental acts aimed at preventing or reducing distress, or preventing some dreaded event or situation?

Do you think that these obsessions and/or compulsions are excessive or unreasonable?

Are the obsessions and/or compulsions distressing, are they time-consuming (i.e. take more than one hour per day), or do they significantly interfere with your normal routine, occupational functioning, social activities or relationships?
