Navorsers berig dat om vir ander persone te bid, mense mag help om hulle negatiewe emosies te beheer, ná hulle deur 'n vreemdeling beledig is.

"Mense gebruik dikwels gebed wanneer hulle negatiewe emosies, insluitende woede, ervaar," sê mede-outeur van die studie, Brad Bushman, 'n professor van kommunikasie en sielkunde aan die Ohio State University. "Ons het gevind dat gebed mense werklik kan help om hulle woede te hanteer, wat waarskynlik daartoe bydra om hulle siening van die gebeurtenisse wat hulle kwaad maak, te verander, wat hulle dan help om die saak minder persoonlik op te neem."
